For anyone who lets their dog run loose and/or doesn't keep a collar and i.d. tag on their dog, here are some graffic photos of what can happen. This sweet dog was brought to me just after midnight on February 27th, 2004. He had been found running back and forth along a friend's fenceline, trying to get in. While I have no way of knowing exactly what happened to him, he appeared to have been gored by a wild boar.

He lay perfectly still while I examined and cleaned his wounds. As you can see, his injuries were deep and must have been very painful. I took him to the vet first thing the next morning for stitches. If you're wondering what donations to Lighthouse Animal Rescue are spent on, this is a prime example.
